Improv Essentials: Get In The Game!
This course is designed for folks who want to perfect their game play in long form improv. Even if you’ve tried your hand at some of these skills before, this class will take your long form skills to the next level! This class will cover:
-How to edit a scene properly. Using sweep edits, how do you listen for the game of the scene and know when to end a scene?
-How to do walk-ons and tag-outs and group games so that they enhance a scene and not detract from the quality of the original scene idea.
-How to begin to tell a long form narratively, so that our characters and scene ideas can mix and mingle as the long form unfolds.
-How to make strong initiations and character choices and stick with your early ideas and trust your instincts.
-How to perfect our environment work. Where are we and how do we create a full image for our audience?
-Pantomime Skills: How can we work on our object work so that we enhance our communication with our scene partners and team and create an effective stage picture?
After working on all of these skills, Tracey will decide on a long form for the class that will showcase all of your talents at our Showcase!

Musical Improv: The Show-Stopping Number!
Welcome to the Magical World of Musical Improv! This course will not only review all of the different improvised song structures so that you can sing a song from scratch…it will also help the class create massive SHOW-STOPPING Numbers that will pepper the set! We will work on creating a thematic montage of scenes that will seem to be tangents and unrelated….until BAM…the SHOW-STOPPING number will come and mix all of our worlds and characters together!
Since we will review song structure, even if you haven’t taken musical improv before, you are welcome to come on in to this class!
At the end of this 8 week course, you will have the option of presenting at the Showcase!
No improv or theater experience necessary! All adults are welcome!

Unisphere Teams
Welcome to UNISPHERE!
Unisphere is the Form Creation Program for FoHi Improv. In order to be eligible for Unisphere, you need to complete our Program Requirements, which can be found HERE.
Prerequisites: Beginner Performance and 2 Improv Essential Classes from FoHi Improv (or instructor approval if you have fulfilled this requirement at another long form improv school.) The understanding is that everyone participating understands most of the language of long form improv, including how to do 1st and 2nd beat scenes, a run of a show, how to do group scenes, walk-ons and tag-outs, time-dashes and how to share the space in a productive manner as well as be able to play in many different styles.
The Unisphere Program represents the most advanced level of playing. The form that each Unisphere team presents has never been seen before. The team(s) will be involved with a coach who will tailor their feedback to what the team needs to work on, but the team MUST be willing to listen to each other and want to be creative with improv at this point in their journey. How many people sign-up will determine the size and amount of players per team. If there is only one team, then the audition will be used to determine which style of playing suits the team best for the run of Unisphere.
The team will also be responsible for presenting their new work at 3 separate performances within the class time, two of which will have a jam which they will lead following their performance that anyone can participate in. The most advanced players of FoHi Improv should always be able to play with ANYONE and make them shine on stage! Unisphere will then be the house team and the traveling indie team representing FoHi Improv in not only Queens, but Manhattan and Brooklyn and beyond!
